Professional Statement
Dr. Keith Manning is a general practitioner and is also the owner and director of Long Island City Veterinary Center.

Asked what first inspired him to become a veterinarian, Dr. Manning says it was his first pet, a dog named Happy. “Her unbounded love and playfulness were always a part of me,” he says. “Now that I am a veterinarian I really enjoy improving a pet’s health and quality of life, so it can more fully enjoy the human and pet bond.”

A native of Westchester, New York, Dr. Manning attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook for his undergraduate studies where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1978. He then went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Araneta University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983.

Dr. Manning’s areas of particular professional interest include diagnostic medicine, wellness care, geriatrics, and pain management. He is a member of the Executive Board of Directors for Bideawee, one of the oldest humane adoption societies in the United States. He is also a member of the New York State and New York City Veterinary Medical Associations, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. Dr. Manning is the president of New York Save Animals in Veterinary Emergency, and he sits on the Advisory Board of the Veterinary Technician Program at LaGuardia Community College.

Dr. Manning was also named Veterinarian of the Year in 1998 by the New York City Veterinary Medical Association.

He and his wife have a teenage daughter who enjoys acting and singing. At home, the family has two dogs – a mini goldendoodle and a Havanese. Dr. Manning’s hobbies include tennis, cross-training, theater, dining out and reading.
