Professional Statement
Dr. Sawyer earned her DVM degree with honors from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She was granted membership to Phi Zeta, the Veterinary Honors Society, for academic achievement. After veterinary school, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sawyer’s veterinary interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and dermatology.

Dr. Sawyer graduated cum laude from Truman State University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Military Science in 1997. She then served in the United States Army Medical Service Corps, where she achieved the rank of Captain. While in the Army, she became a Jumpmaster, earned her Senior Parachutist badge, and served overseas in Afghanistan. Outside of work, she enjoys cycling, running, and hiking. She has three cats and one dog (a yellow lab).
