Professional Statement
Dr. Gintis, DVM was born and raised in Kinston, NC where he started working at Northside Animal Hospital in high school. A life long Tarheel fan, he got his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a MS degree in physiology from that other school in Raleigh. He briefly left the great state of North Carolina to attend veterinary school at Tuskeegee University in Alabama. Returning to the Research Triangle, he began his career working for and learning from Dr. Bobby Sherwood at Sherwood Animal Hospital. In 1986, after approaching several bankers, he finally convinced one that Penny Road was not too far from Raleigh to support an animal hospital and opened Swift Creek. In 1997, he opened Lake Pine Animal Hospital in Apex. Both locations have flourished, and he is extremely proud of and grateful for the dedicated staff of both locations.

He is one of the few NC natives that lives in Cary with his wife, Marsha, and two legged children, Haley and Drew. His four legged children include 2 Labrador Retrievers, Skittles and Wafer (the only members of the family that listen to him), and 2 lazy cats with politically incorrect names that will not be mentioned here.

Outside of veterinary medicine, he likes to read, play golf, and follow the Tarheels and the Hurricanes. In 2005, he became one of the founders of Patriot State Bank in Fuquay-Varina.
