About this Vet Dr. Kathryn Sarpong graduated cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After graduating, she moved to West Los Angeles and worked in a private specialty hospital refining internal medicine and surgery skills. After a year, she missed Texas, and returned to Dallas. Dr. Sarpong and Dr. Lavender decided to open Metro Paws Animal Hospital to cater to the needs of small animals and their families in East Dallas. Professional interests include geriatric care, infectious diseases, dermatology, endocrinology, and internal medicine. Dr. Sarpong completed her undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia. After graduation, she worked for Merck, Inc on new drug development before returning to school to pursue a lifelong love of veterinary medicine. Dr. Sarpong lives in Hollywood/Santa Monica (part of greater Lakewood) with her husband, Benjamin, and two daughters, Abigail and Elouise. Her dog Noah has shared their home since being adopted after being hit by a car as a puppy. He serves as a great surrogate parent to cats and dogs spending time at the Sarpong house. More recently, Isaac, a 90 lb canine rescue joined the Sarpong household after being found running around White Rock Lake with heartworms and epilepsy. Show More

Dr. Jennifer Lavender, DVM Metro Paws Animal Hospital 1910 Skillman Street Dallas, TX 75206
About this Vet Dr. Lavender grew up in Dallas – attending Lakewood, Armstrong, and University Park elementry schools. She continued at McCullough Middle School and finally graduated from Highland Park High School in 3 years in 1991. After high school, she completed a degree in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University. Dr. Lavender took two years off between her undergraduate and professional studies. During that time, she worked in veterinary medicine in London before returning to Dallas. Once home, she worked at Southwestern Medical Center in the Animal Diagnostic Lab. This experience helped foster an interest in laboratory techniques and diagnostics. Dr. Lavender graduated from Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After graduation, she worked in a busy general practice in Houston before starting an internship at the Veterinary Emergency Referral Group, Inc. This year long internship focused on internal medicine and critical care. Finally back to Dallas in 2003 after completing her internship, Dr. Lavender has worked in several of the metroplex’s general practices and emergency facilities. About this Vet Dr. Robson grew up all over the southwestern United States. Her family eventually settled in Norman, OK, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Oklahoma State University and obtained an Agribusiness degree. During college, Dr. Robson developed a love for traveling after participating in study abroad programs in the UK and Australia. Wanting to continue to broaden her horizons, she applied to veterinary colleges outside of Oklahoma and was thrilled to attend Texas A&M. Her love for travel continued and while in school, she was able to participate in a veterinary study abroad program in Germany. In addition to studies, Dr. Robson was also active in her class’s student council, was president of her class and also served as the class representative to the curriculum committee. During her time at A&M, Dr. Robson developed an interest in small animal medicine, including physical rehabilitation, dermatology, and clinical pathology. Dr. Robson graduated from Texas A&M University; School of Veterinary Medicine, and is excited to be starting her career at Metro Paws Animal Hospital. She also can’t wait to explore Dallas! About this Vet Ever since she was about five years old, Dr. Badamo always knew what she wanted to be when she grew up – a Veterinarian. Even when times were rough and this outcome seemed implausible, there was always a force driving her towards this goal. Dr. Badamo is originally from Long Island NY where she worked at a local animal shelter for three years, prior to starting her college education. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Arcadia University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In between studies Dr. Badamo obtained a dog training certification in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Badamo enrolled at The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Throughout her academic career Dr. Badamo continued to work in the animal/veterinary field. While in veterinary school Dr. Badamo traveled to Maryland for an externship at Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine Group. During this externship Dr. Badamo became very interested in sports medicine and physical rehabilitation. She graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After obtaining her veterinary degree, Dr. Badamo completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at a well known specialty practice, Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, in New Jersey. She stayed on as a general practitioner for two and a half years before accepting a position here at Metropaws. Dr. Badamo currently lives with her long time love, Patrick and their four dogs (3 Pomeranians: Emmett, Luna, Babaghanoush and Border Collie: Gromit), and cat (Buoy). Dr Badamo actively competes in canine agility with both Babaghanoush and Gromit. Competing in the sport of canine agility has further strengthened and developed her interests in Canine sports medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Badamo’s interests outside of veterinary Medicine include photography (mostly photos of her dogs), jogging/hiking (most of the time with her dogs), and canine agility. Show More

About this Vet Dr. Emily Herring grew up in Weatherford, Texas. Like many veterinarians, her passion for animals began at a young age and her many childhood pets spurred Emily’s desire to devote her life to animal health. Emily studied Psychology during her undergraduate education at Texas A&M University. She went on to also earn her Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M with an emphasis in neuroscience research. Ultimately, Emily completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine where she focused on small animal and exotic small mammal medicine. Dr. Herring’s professional interests include canine and feline internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and pocket pet medicine. She is happy to see furry friends of all sizes such as guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, rats, mice, sugar gliders and ferrets. Her love of pocket pets was enhanced by her opportunity to work extensively with mice and rats as a part of her Master’s education. Additionally, Emily enjoys dermatology, particularly helping pets and their owners with common Texas skin allergies. Beyond veterinary medicine, Emily dabbles in oil painting and loves spending free time with family at the lake. She is also involved in greyhound rescue, an interest that developed after adopting Lightening, a three-legged retired racing greyhound. In that regard, Dr. Herring spends a significant amount of time battling Lightening for control of the sofas and beds in the house. Dr. Herring shares her life with her husband John, a Dallas native.
